Why we built ImanLock
We didn't set out to build another prayer app. We set out to build the one app that could replace five.
The Problem
We live in an age of constant digital noise. Notifications, social media feeds, and endless scrolling compete for the same time and attention that should belong to our prayers and our spiritual growth.
For many Muslims, the struggle is real: the adhan plays, and instead of standing up for Salah, we tell ourselves "just one more scroll." Beyond prayer, those who want to read Quran daily need a separate app. Those who want to track Sunnah need another. Focus apps don't understand prayer times. Prayer apps don't block distractions. Quran apps don't track spiritual habits.
The result? Five apps on your phone, none of them talking to each other, and none of them built with the complete Muslim experience in mind.
One App, Complete Deen
ImanLock was born from a simple question: What if one app could do all of this? Prayer tracking with automatic app locking. A Quran reader that works offline. Sunnah tracking. An Umrah guide. Prophet stories. Spiritual goal reminders. All in one place, all on-device, all private.
We didn't want to build a prayer app with a Quran bolted on, or a Quran app with prayer times added as an afterthought. We wanted to build a unified Islamic companion where every feature complements the others.
Our Values
Respect for the User
ImanLock is a tool, not a cage. You choose which apps to lock. You set the rules. You can override when needed. Haid mode respects the reality of women's worship. We believe in empowerment, not enforcement.
Privacy as a Right
Your prayer life, your Quran progress, your app usage, your location — none of it leaves your device. We don't collect data because we believe privacy is a fundamental right, not a feature to market.
Simplicity in Design
We follow an Islamic design philosophy — clean, calm, and purposeful. 6 color themes. Full dark mode. 8 languages with RTL support. Every screen serves a clear function.
Accountability without Judgment
ImanLock doesn't shame you for missing a prayer. It gently reminds. It tracks your progress. It celebrates your consistency. Spiritual growth comes from mercy, not guilt.
Built with Technical Integrity
ImanLock uses the Adhan library — the same prayer time engine trusted by millions — with 9+ calculation methods so every user can follow their community's standard.
On iOS, we use Apple's official Screen Time API (Family Controls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) for app blocking. This is the same system Apple uses for parental controls — reliable, secure, and built into the operating system. We're transparent about requiring the Family Controls entitlement from Apple for distribution.
Everything is stored in a local SQLite database. The only network requests are for Quran audio downloads, word-by-word translation (Quran.com API), and the optional nearby mosque finder. Everything else works completely offline.
